INGREDIENTS:
- 1⁄2 cup butter, softened
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1⁄4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1⁄4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1⁄4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1⁄2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup chopped glace mixed candied fruit, plus more for top of loaf
- ¼ cup confectioner’s sugar.
